Saving Money

Published by xstacy under 1 Edit This

So now that summer is sneaking up on me and I have all these fabulous things planned to do, turns out I need money to do these things! Weird, I know. So even more than usual the time has come for me to re-evaluate my bills and savings strategies.

I have a bill due in August that is the end of my 18-months no interest special buy plan. This needs to be paid off before the promotinal end date or I will be charged all of the interest from day one. I’m working the hardest on this one right now.

Next up is my credit card with about 15-18 percent interest. This is also my highest credit limit card. This one has been biting me in the behind for awhile now.

Finally is my good interest rate card that is just about maxed. I use this card fairly frequently because of it’s good interest rate but seem to pay it down a little and rack it back up just as quick. I just had the credit limit on this card increased because of it’s rate, this way I will put more charges on this card than my higher card and thus save a bit of money in interest.

My high interest credit card is what I use most often because I recently paid down about half of the balance. And of course it was time for me to get new contacts soon after. I just had my ’service engine’ light come on today, that will probably end up on this card as well.

Right now I am working part-time and putting all my pennies towards these bills.

1.  I’ve learned to shop less, (the main reason my cards are so high, plus a trip to Vegas….) this also helps me save on gas as I am not driving from store to store or to other cities to go the mall,

2. Try to save more: as in not spending on things I don’t need including fast food and expensive food in general, I try using all of what I have as in lotion, toothpaste, make-up, etc

3. Instead of buying something to drink at work, I invested in a cute water jug and fill it up with things from home and if that is not enough I fill it up at the water fountain at work. Free and ice cold water!

4. Cooking more often instead of going out to eat, and making extra so it last a few days.

5. I shop used: my car is used, my purse is used, some of my clothes are used. I love thrift stores, like Goodwill and Salvation Army, and truly love places like Plato’s Closet that offer only gently used, stylish brand name clothes. Not that I am a label whore, but some things you find there (like jeans that fit well) you will never see in other thrift stores.  I frequent ebay for other things and love a good yard sale.

6. Speaking of college… I re-sell my books that are not for my intended major. Now I have saved a few good books I liked from some of my English classes but otherwise the rest of useless to me and can help some other struggling student save some moolah!

Any ideas on other ways to save, or ways you already use to save!

Insignificant

Published by xstacy under 1 Edit This

My hands shake

I feel the life flow out of my body from my head to my toes

I feel insignificant

My eyes drift into a daydream of what I am doing with my life

People all over the world are doing remarkable things and I sit here and decide to curl my hair today

I change my outfit several times before heading off to class, by that time anything could have happened around the world. I didn’t feel like showering this morning.

I read an article on a woman who “learned to be more authentic” and a woman who is saving lives in Aids-stricken Africa. I made it to class on time today.

Timeless

Published by xstacy under 1 Edit This

I’m tired and the lights are bright tonight. Can you show me the way home back to the chocolate pudding memories.
With bubble baths in my bedroom.
I’m tired and the daylight is fading, will you be my home? I’m tired and everything will be alright, only if I could awake from this snow covered nightmare. I want stickers of gold engraved with your name.
A bunny tattoo to remind me of my high school days.
Flashes of light shine through my eyes, while I reminisce of old times.
Sitting in your living room, watching your piercing eyes.
My heart says stay but my mind cant stand still. Glittery skies caught my eyes, the night I envisioned us as one.
Eating junk food on a distant road trip, driving to the middle of nowhere.
A dazzling water fountain steams up my thoughts in the middle of the ocean.
You seem to captivate all with your dance routine in the dark.
May I have this dance, to impress you with my lack of skill? Or shall I amaze with my ability to sit it out? Y
Your glow shimmers across the sea of mindless observers and we slip into nothingness. It dulls the pain of the bright lights in the morning.

Wishing With a Broken Heart

Published by xstacy under 1 Edit This

The wind whips the trees
OutsideNight is falling
Leaves shake and twirl
As they take to the air
The wind howls
As it whips around the building
Crying out
In the dead of winter
Couples scurry
In hopes of finding somewhere
Warm and comforting
To hide,
To escape
But only to find the wind
Whipping harder
The night
Falling quicker
The leavesThrashing

Conviction Wanted

Published by xstacy under 1 Edit This

You made me believe, without any faith of your own.
You made me fall,
like an anvil through the clouds, but decided not to catch me
you broke the camel’s back
but I would always welcome you back
I waited so long
for something like this, and when I thought it was coming true, it was pushed farther into the deep distance. Into the darkness That I simply cannot grasp,Like a lathered bar of soap,in the young hands of a child.
I’m forced to live in this lonely place,
Decorated and designed to the Tthe place we were supposed to be.
but all that lives here now
is sadness and wishful thinking

More Than You

Published by xstacy under 1 Edit This

Sedate me in the dark green wilderness. Take me to a place unbelievable. Un-recognized by other inhabitants. As I drift into a daydream I wonder what makes me feel so insignificant.

I sit contently at my wooden desk jotting notes from an unknown figure. If the imprint they’ve left could talk, what do you think it would say? Mindless chatter fills the chilled air. Do you know where you are? How did I get here?

Please stop piercing me with your sharp words. The paper-cut I received is helpful enough thank you, I say with a grin on my face.

Take me to a place where the lights are dim and the pain is dull.

Sleep is preceded by thoughts that keep my mind racing. Why can’t I be like them? Why do I want to be like them? Handprints form in my heart, for those thoughts that sink deep.

Where will I go without thee? Fore how will I get there, without you leading the way my dear? The darkness has rendered me blind and oblivious to the surrounding world which I must face daily. Leaving me with a numb feeling from head to toe.

Does anybody hear me? Does anybody care? I ask, twirling with my freshly curled hair and laughing. I feel this act I’m putting on fading, but I can’t let on as my laugh makes me want to cry. But the smile on others faces lets me know, that they have no idea and I can keep it up for one more day.

89 Days….

Published by xstacy under 1 Edit This

So after over 3 months of job searching almost 2 months ago I took the first thing that came along and that was a temporoary position. This has the possibility of becoming permeanent but they do not let you know until the last possible moment. From the moment of hire I was counting down the days and living with the constant fear of having to search for another job and the simple fact of not having a job at all.

If things don’t work out I will be forced to move back in with my mom and work my old job 3.5 hours away from the apartment I would still need to pay for and the boyfriend who also lives there. Now my old job is awesome, and I do miss it, but it’s not here and I am.

Another one of the temps came in a few weeks before me and this next wednesday our new schedule comes out. If he is hired in, this will be the week he finds out. They have yet to tell him a thing yet. So now him, his girlfriend, and their daughter are waiting to see if their one source of income will still have this job in two weeks. I think that’s ridiculious.

They wait till the last minute to tell us our fate, when this means paying bills and our life. I get that they don’t want to tell us in case it isn’t good news and there is a chance we might go and do something crazy, but I think for most of us, it’s the difference between finally letting go of that stress or gearing up for another job hunt….

A New Mattress!

Published by xstacy under 1 Edit This

I need a new mattress.

 15.jpg

Now I’m not princess and the pea or anything, but I sleep awful at night. I move around alot, I get up frequently. I just don’t get a good night’s sleep. I have attributed this to my mattress.

I wake up in weird positions that I have never used to sleep, and my arms will hurt or be numb.

So, I need a new mattress.

I found this article about choosing a new mattress and thought I would share it, because when I don’t get a good night’s sleep, I am not the most wonderful person to interact with, and that may go for some others out there as well.

“Choosing the best mattress for back pain

You toss and turn, trying to find the right position; your muscles ache, you’re exhausted, all you want is to sleep. When you wake up in the morning, you’re in pain, feel groggy, and more tired than when you went to bed.

When your back hurts, sleep can be a frustrating prospect.

While expert opinion is that activity is the quickest, easiest way to relieve soft-tissue back pain, you may want to check out your mattress— and see if your bed is your back’s best friend… or worst enemy.

A Good Mattress = A Better Night’s Sleep

Sleeping on the wrong mattress can not only give you a bad night, but it can also aggravate previous back pain. If your mattress doesn’t support your spine, you’re reinforcing poor sleeping posture, straining muscles and possibly throwing the spine out of alignment— all of which can increase lower back pain.

Choosing a mattress that provides both personal sleep comfort and back support can help reduce pain, allowing your back to rest deeply (and rejuvenate) during the night.
While it can be confusing to choose a mattress, it’s definitely worth the trouble—for your back and a good night’s sleep!

Choosing a Mattress: Pick for Preference and Support
Here are some tips on choosing your next bed…

1. Your personal opinion is the ultimate factor.
Any mattress that helps you sleep deeply and pain-free is the best mattress for you. There’s no single mattress that’s right for everyone. Choose a mattress that measures up for comfort, and support.

2. Don’t judge a mattress by its cover.
The coils or inner springs inside a mattress give your back support. Padding on top of the mattress comes in different thicknesses and varieties.

Ask about coils, springs and padding when shopping, and try it out—to see what feels best for your back.

3. Support your support in bed.
A good mattress provides support and allows your spine to curve naturally while maintaining alignment. Good support can provide relief of back pain.

4. Choose a good pillow.
Be as good to your neck and shoulders as you are to your back; pick a pillow built for the way you sleep— one that cradles your head and allows your muscles to relax and rejuvenate.

5. Don’t be afraid to move on.
If your current mattress sags, or causes you discomfort, it’s time to get a new one.

6. Shop for the best value and quality of the mattress rather than for price.
A high-quality mattress is worth the investment, when you think about how much time you spend on it! The impact a good mattress can have on low back pain and sleep comfort is enormous.

Remember that mattresses with more coils and thicker padding tend to be higher quality and also more expensive, but a big price is no guarantee that the mattress is better than a cheaper one.

Mattress stores often have sales and promotions—so do your research and comparison-shop for the best price after finding the right mattress.

7. Test Drive!
You should lay on the mattress with your shoes off for several minutes, getting a feeling for the mattress. If two people will be sleeping on the mattress, you should test it at the same time, to ensure enough space and comfort.

8. Take care of your new Mattress.
Rotate your new mattress 180 degrees and flip it lengthwise every six months. This helps ensure your mattress is evenly worn.”
